Retaining Blood After Feeding.

So I was thinking about some thing, zero last feed on yuki over a year ago and yet when sara talked to him she said he smelled just like a pure blood, how long does the feeding effects last? Right now we see kaname loseing strength possibly cause of the pills. At the same time zero appears to be getting stronger but he is only takeing tablets.

So why does zero still have the pureblood smell after a year? Do the effects never wear off?

It's in his blood I guess (taking in the bloods of the others), em somehow mixed with the others two, gives away a distinctive smell...

Sara told he that he smelled like the Kurans if I remember well, not the best comment for Zero lol, since that reminds him from whom he remained alive up to a point (from falling level-e).

Of course that's a part that I think that Hino can take a use in a future example no matter Zero hates Kaname he has to recognize that he owns a part of his power and his survival to Kaname's intervesion and step back a bit. M, I am dragging this too far? Perhaps, but I tend to believe that Zero has to think a bit logically over his issue with purebloods, after all three Kaname, Yuuki, Zero cooperated in this...to rescue the academy and get rid of Rido, no matter the effects after that.

Or else Sara is literally thinking of using him as we saw in the chapter where she says that Zero is another pawn in her game; what would allow her to use him, I think, his hate because in his character that's one of his main weaknesses.

Anyway a bit out of topic, lol, but considering Sara-Zero's meeting I wanted to point it out that, even the way she talks to him is in order to piss him off with the Kurans..

You are right in many points there juliet, zero would have fallen to a level e with out kanames blood cause when he drank from him he was real close to falling.

I however bellive this also saved yuki cause I think she would be zero's first target sence it is her blood he lusts after.

As for sara, every thing she said to zero was ment to anger him, calling him a doggy/puppy, saying he smells like the kurans, then the maner in which she talked about the girls she turned, that is the whole reason he hates pb's. She defrently wants to use zero but I doubt he is some thing as low as a pawn on the board, she might be able to use his hatred to comtrol his movments but I doubt that is how it will turn out, I think it is more likly she will use his hunger, right now it is by far his greatist weakness.

I am just having some trouble figureing out the whole blood thing after a year thing, if it lasts that long or forever then why are the other vampires always wanting more if a single feeding will make them retain it.

About the blood …

From what I have understood by now, vampires don’t need blood to survive, to stay alive … so in general I think is just a “delicacy” for them.

Like humans … don’t need sweets to survive but they can’t always resist to a chocolate! Hahaha!

The lust for blood increasing when …
a) they are wounded … they need blood to recover faster
b) they’re in love … they need the blood from their lover
c) they’re going through a tremendous stress >>> Kaname’s case after Haruka’s and Juri’s death, plus the “lose” of Yuuki.
d) After their slumber.

About Sara’s comment … now that you mention it, it is a little weird …

We saw in the 1rst arc, Yagari also could smell it … he told Zero whose blood you took this time (something like that), but only the next day after Zero took Kaname’s blood! Sara made the comment after a year … so some questions arise here …

We don’t know if Yagari was able to distinguish the exact source of the blood, or he just smelled blood.
Also I’m not sure but sometimes in the story Hino implying that a vampire had to taste some ones blood to recognise it. For example Hanabusa says … I smell blood … its Yuuki’s blood I recognised it cuz I taste it. But when Zero drunk from Kaname all the NC understood that it was Kaname’s blood which spread! How?
Another point … when Yuuki “awakes” Akatsuki (I think) says … Yuuki was born PB?

Perhaps they can tell the blood of the PBs cuz it’s different, extraordinary and the smell remains hence and the power from it !?


So for Sara’s case maybe we have two possibilities here …

a) She could tell whose blood Zero took even a year after cuz he took the most powerful blood >>> Kurans blood or…
b) She knew it from Takuma (?) and made that comment on purpose to agitate/provoke Zero! Sara seems to be very clever and calculating … maybe she “study” pretty well her opponents to be!

yes I also heard this was stated in the fanbook. Sadly I don't own a fanbook to show proof.. :silent: anyway this simply means vampires dont need blood to survive, they only consume it during the following...which nina already said here:

this area has been a bit shady as well due its inconsistent sometimes and varies per character per situation..
examples
Human Yuki injuring herself anywhere near Nightclass dorm or just near vampires sets them off easily...and almost majority of them. The smell of spilled human blood for them is very strong and can easily detect it..no need for them to taste to recognize it I think.
Some vampires can also detect a pureblood's blood by smell..when Yuki was turned into a pureblood one of the night class (aido or kain i think) recognize her smell and said something like, "This smell... can it really be?" then realizes she was turned and the others also knew the meaning of it and went to her.
Kaname's scent when Zero injured him scattered quickly because it was inside the nightclass dorm when it spilled.
Hunters can also detect pureblood and vampire smell..well the only one I know who can seems to be Kaien, however I think its the same for a few others otherwise how will they distinguish a vampire from a human or go about their missions. Anyway Kaien smelled the pureblood scent on the ex-hunter association president (hunter) that was how he knew about his illegal connections with a pureblood, and I think it has to do with the amount of vampire genetic trait he was born with.

as for purebloods smell, i think they are no different from other vampires, then can detect vampire and pureblood smell too. Kaname has done this several times when he smelled Yuki's blood or when she fed Zero (Yeah I think some vampires knew Zero and Yuki's forbidden sessions it was no secret as Aido also knew about it.) Kaname also smelled fresh blood from Sara after she killed Ouri and the hunter. As for Sara smelling the scent on Zero... I think after all the pureblood blood he took (Yuki's and Kaname's) it would have been a part of him now, just like how Bloody rose became a part of his body after he took ichiru's blood, so probably there is no expiry date for the smell of his blood . Like the ex-hunterassociation president, Zero would also give off some pureblood scent.

Why do you think that Kaname is losing strength? And why do you think Zero appears to be getting stronger?

Kanames healing ability seems to have slowed down, on 1 chapter kaname got cut and it wasn't healing, then it showed zero get cut and it healed instantly.

There is also the horses reaction when zero's hunger came on.

1 other thing, the vampire put off a aura, that is how they learned about yuki, not actualy the blood smell of blood but the aura she put off after awakening, zero was shown to have the ability to sence this aura when he was only a kid and his ability was greater then that of his parents. Mainly when shizuka came, out side in the forest he could tell she was a vampire, then later that night he open the front door when she is comeing towerds the house and she mentions him senceing her before his parents.

We had discussed the possibility Kaname’s powers lessen (cuz his damaged hand, the vomit blood etc), whereas Zero’s powers strengthen here …

Sorry, I have not read all posts before.

I think that when a vampire has drunk from other vampire, he takes a part of him from the blood. They call that he "eats" another. Do you remember when Kaname killed Shizouka? Of course it is not the same because he taked also her life.
I think every vampire has his own aura and when he drank the blood, they mixed.
It is interesting because of the meaning of blood in every culture.
