oh my god I was thinking about that stories too xDDD yeah U___U the romantic atmosphere and mistery of the opera's phanton and the "first meeting" on romeo & juliet...
It really seems like those stories but maybe is caused about the "typical model" of romanticism.
When I saw the scene I thought about Sweeney Todd and one of the first songs that they sang

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNR-PJFFgvA

I don't remember right now other stories with mask dance :/
Other story that remind me this is Cinderella ^^ she is dress up like a princess but anyone knows who is her ;)

I've just seen a Van Hellsing scene os a masquerade ball xD
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBQwbSU1Hb0

And maybe on "Interview with a vampire" has one too, doesn't it?

Masks and masquerade always are connect with this mysterious, scary and romantic side. The most known is I think Phantom of Opera, but I also really like the scene from Van Helsing: their clothes and music. The others examples which I right now remember:
    1. Waltz from polish movie: Tredowata ( from 3:50 there is real masquerade, but the truth is that people "wear" masks from the beginning, because all of them don't accept and are jealous of this young girl)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ale5Ur_jpSg&feature=related
    2. There was masquerade party in Gossip Girl and Vampire Diaries.
    3. There is opera "A masked ball" by Verdi

Yes IWAV does have a ball scene, well kinda, it is actually an opera scene cause they were doing an opera.

the scenery is nice and classic, I want to do an erotic fic based on that...all three on fire...

not enough kinky though... let me see Kaname saying "you have my blessings", instead of going "I will whip you both"... rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl and i will go explosive explosive explosive

mr. ice tube, fandom is at crisis stage I can tell...

I have always seen kaname like the original Dracula from the novels instead of the altered version on him they have shown since the movies release. Except for the additions on PB's VK follows the vampire myth from the original novels very closely.

i didn't have problem with zeki if they were developed equally with yume but....hino did a cheap trick to shock readers, maybe she thought it will make the story interesting but sry miss matsuri,it didn't work, well not for me.i know that it hasn't ended yet but...kaname is representative of dark side and dark characters usually don't win in movies and mangas.by the way i am now no more interested in yume thing,i will ship seiren and aidou because there is no hope for them to end up together so i can ship them in my fantasies atleast and will never get hurt thinking they didn't end up in manga.

and dear richard,i think you hate kaname and you are a zeki shipper. Very Happy

I have always said I prefer the zero yuki relationship, but I wouldn't say I hate kaname, on the contrary I compared him to Dracula and Dracula is my fav vampire of all time, at least the original one before the movies ruined the image of him. All the vampires nowadays are lacking greatly in comparison to the oldies. I like VK cause hino is giving the vampires back what was taken away from them over time.

Ι agree about the dracula stories, well Kaname is a compilation of many things. Are you referring to Dracula by Copola (was it Copola? it's been so long that i have seen the film but it was the only one i remember...with Dracula's theme and love story.

I think he's talking about " Dracula " , the original novel by Bran Stocker . Coppola did a movie version that was supposed to be closer to the original novel than many version from the past .

"Dracula " is one of the novels from the Romantic Period Literature Movement . One of the characteristics of that movement is portraiting love as tragic . " Dying for love " was a very popular theme . In " Dracula " the story is not only a terror movie about vampires . But a love triangle between one girl , a vampire hunter and a vampire . With a tragio outcome , as Dracula died no matter if he loved the girl as much as the other guy . Because he was the tragic figure . . And she returned to human after Dracula's dead .

Probably he is comparing Yuuki to Mina , Kaname to Count Dracula and Zero to Mina's fiancee ( I can't remember his name now ) , who become a vampire hunter's aprendice to hunt Dracula from taking his girlfriend . Val Helsing is Kaien Cross ? Funny to compare those two as equivalent . Vampire hunters extraordinary , but Cross wanted to be seen as a goofy guy . Val Helsing was more of a serious one .

The original movie that used the " Dracula " novel as source was " Nosterafus " , a silent , black and white movie . It has a lot of similar things to the original movie , but they didn't had the novel rights , so couldn't use the name .

The Phantom of the Opera is a beautiful musical! So beautiful! You should watch it. The music is absolutely GORGEOUS! I really need to watch it again. When I was little it scared me and when I finally watched it when I was older I watched it on a bus full of a bunch of annoying teenagers on a tiny screen... :/ Ah well. Anyway, the masquerade ball was pretty beautiful!
