Vampire Knight Chapter 76 Translation

Disclaimer: For those who are familiar with me translating VK raws from Chinese, you will probably know this very well by now. Basically, lost in translation will occur. This will inevitably be wrong in certain spots. Other areas, the dialogue could be worded a bit better but I want to keep everything as direct translations wherever possible.
Also, whenever on character is speaking across several panels, I put them in separate lines.

Shiki, staring at the tablets: ... you want to give me these?
Takuma: Yup, I’ve already taken this new pill and the flavour is really good
[next panel] You said before the current pills’ flavours aren’t that great, right?
Shiki, staring: hm... well, if it’s Ichijou who’s giving it to me –
[He reaches for the pills, but Takuma yanks them back]

Page 2:
Shiki, annoyed: What, Ichijou?
[Takuma’s hand is trembling]
Takuma: Shi-Shiki! Danger...
[Next panel, Takuma reacting strongly with Shiki looking confused] Danger, don’t come near me!
Shiki, looking exasperated: Since yesterday, Ichijou has been acting super weird
Takuma, incredibly cheerful: There’s no such problem, here, this is for you!
[next panel, looking terrible] No. No. No. Can’t do it!!
Shiki: ...

Page 3:
Rima: Ichijou’s been acting strange...?
Shiki: Hn... although he’s always been a strange person
But this... I feel Sara-sama is controlling half of his consciousness
Rima: ... Could he be thinking of helping a certain someone by staying by Sara-sama’s side and monitoring (the situation)?
Ah, speaking of which, is this the suspicious blood tablets? I got this from my roommate.
Shiki: Ah, yup, it’s this. [He grabs them and chucks one into his mouth, much to Rima’s horror]

Rima: Wait, wait, Shiki!
Shiki, chewing: We’ll only know after we taste it, right? Hm... taste alright.
... But... what is it... this taste...
Rima: Seriously... just because you are a vampire, doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want with your body.
Shiki: Thanks for worrying...

[Vampire Hunters]
Yagari: What happened? Those two...
Kaito, sighing: Who knows what happened?
But... it’s so fickle, isn’t it? If the relationship between those two improves, then (we’ll) use their feelings for one another...

Page 6:
Yagari: It’s so that should anything happen, we can be assured she’ll be obedient [think of it as insurance for her good behaviour]. To have Yuuki Kuran on our side is a good thing.
Jinmu: It’s because she’s a pureblood vampire that can utilize anti-vampire weapons

[Door swings open, and in walks Kaien with a boy (Touma) slung over his shoulder]

Kaien: I’m back. Although I’ve also brought back a slightly embarrassed pureblood as a souvenir [Not sure what the “embarrassed” bit meant]

Page 8:
Association president is asking for you, you should go immediately
Maria: Zero-kun... although his complexion has always been a bit poor, it seems as though it’s recently gotten a lot worse.

Sara, walking in: Hello everyone...
All the vampire students rises and bows: Sara-sama

Sara: Hello, Yuuki-san...
You look like you’ve just seen something strange... what is it?
Rima, glancing down: Shiki?

Hanabusa, setting down his jar of pills: Looks like it’s the same thing
Akatsuki told me investigate this stuff. So I guess now’s a good a time as any
Yuuki: Ichijou-senpai once said the new blood tablets will enter the market. I think this must be it...

Page 12:
Yuuki: Please let me know as soon as the results are out
Zero, no matter how reluctant, will have to report the reports of the inspection to the association.
Yagari: What are you planning on doing, bringing back a pureblood
Kaien: “Planning on doing” – I can’t just leave him there to die. Having escaped from the clutches of Kaname-kun, the association is the safest place.
He said the next one would be Sara Shirabuki.

Page 13:
Kaien: Although we don’t know if it’s true or not, we should inform her to be more careful.
Yagari: Oi, idiot man
Kaien, flinches: Uhn...
[Yagari punches Kaien]
Kaien: What are you doing?
Yagari: Seriously, can’t take it anymore.

Shiki: Who knows? As soon as rest period comes, she’s nowhere to be seen

Zero, following Yuuki: The association president’s been calling for you, why don’t you care?
Yuuki: ... Because there’re things that need to be dealt with first

Page 18:
Zero: There’s a message from Kaname Kuran through the association president
Hanadagi and Ouri were all killed by his hands [I’m guessing the names here, I don’t know exactly which two deaths Zero’s referring to specifically]
The next one will be Sara Shirabuki...
“To be by that person’s side” nonsense is enough already...

Page 19:
Yuuki: Do you think... that’s what I’ll be thinking? ....
Thank you for the message... at least I know Kaname has not forgotten about me
Or maybe I’m that person’s chess piece...
Then, from this day forward, a chess piece will act like a chess piece would... do what it was intended to do in the position it was placed in...

Page 20:

It’s not about who utilizes it but rather me letting my powers be utilized. Can’t that be so?

There’s absolutely no way I can allow it. Purebloods always do as they wish, causing consequences that others do not wish for, forcing them to do things they don’t want. [I think that’s the general gist of her words. Not 100% sure on the correctness of my translation though]

Oh don't worry, I don't take it personally when you say you can't trust everything I say. I don't 100% trust the chinese raws either. In fact, clicheforfun mentioned that as well. In the scans, there are a lot of places where "Zero" is mentioned but we doubt that it's really "Zero" - esp. on page 23. But I can only deal with what I've been given so *shrug*

Yeah, hopefully the japanese raws will come out soon

The translation for page 23...

凋零 means dying.....even though there is a word 零 which means Zero..but this has nothing to do with Zero himself..it's just the words which combine two characters to form the meaning of "dying" flower is dying or withered.

You can google those two characters from Chinese to English and the meaning is "dying"

So it's not "Finally, you have a flower that will only bloom for you, but there will come a day it will be swallowed by Zero, hm...?"

Instead, it's "Finally, you have a flower that will only bloom for you, but there will come a day it will be swallowed and dying, hm...?

Also, about page 12, there's no "Zero" in that line. Yuuki just said she had to report to HA about the investigation of the blood tablets even though it's not her will to report to them.

And page 18 - Yuuki sarcastically said that Zero might feel that she would think "she has already had enough to fool around with that person". That person "Ano hito" means Kaname.

Basically, this chapter is telling the readers that Yuuki will not be easily changed because of what Kaname conveyed to her indirectly.

As well as page 22 - This is a flashback from chapter 66 where Kaname carried Yuuki's face listening to her ultimate answer to him; that is, she wants to start over properly with him from here.

thank you Di, and please tell that friend thank you too I knew there was something wrong I can sense it but yeah truth prevails this forum is so nice there are many different people who can interact in different places.

I go to a multilingual school too this year so I have a chinese friend, I went for your suggestion Di and showed her the wordds she said its definitely "dying" and there's no way that can be a word for someone's name, she says its basic chinese word. I want to know if there are other translations out there, my friend offered to translate the manga raws but Im too shy to ask her since we met just new. Actually the wording doesn't say that it's Zero who has to report the result to the association. Based on the context (and the habitual lack of subject in Japanese reflected in this translation), I think it's more likely that Yuuki is the one to do the reporting herself.

Zero's name doesn't appear in this page. I think you might have mistaken the character 零 in the word 凋零 for Zero's name.

Ok … we all know that the first translations especially from Chinese raws are rough. So we can’t jumping easily to conclusions … So we all have to have this in mind. XD

Now with reservations here is my take …

I really liked Yuuki in this chapter!!!! I’m surprised my self to say that haha but yeah finally she’s showing good signs that she indeed has a brain!!!!! YAY!

Mmm … Zero seems jealous; annoyed from Yuuki’s wording about Kaname??? I don’t know how to interpret this … Anyway the point is that she didn’t eat Kaname’s “bait” and even if she is a piece into his chessboard she is willing to play that role and then go see him!!!!! That’s my girl! Go go Yuuki!!!

And that weird scene with Rido and Yuuki was indeed Kaname’s nightmare.

I agree, thank you both Divine and Mariangie for the corrections that apparently change the meaning of the original phrase...and can make us jump in wrong conclusions....

@Nina I agree with you about Yuuki here, she seems to realize that all these are a part of Kaname's plan and she is willing to play the game to get to him. Either she is right or wrong in what she thinks that he is doing (because we really do not know his plan, can only assume it), I see that Yuuki takes that notion in a far more mature way.

I am so glad that Aidou took there the tablets and finally Yuuki found herself Sara's intentions (perhaps this was never predicted to happen). So Kaname's intention here to make Yuuki show trust to Sara seems to crumble.

We also got an answer about Hanadagi's guardian that we knew that she had vanished and we were wondering about it.

Now Rido as Sweet mentioned before and she is right because Kaname also confirms, it symbolizes Kaname's darkest side there, that apparently has thoughts about it.

Even though his words are still cryptic, what I liked and enjoyed is as you mentioned...

there is a constant logging and also constant fear inside him that if he does not act he is going to lose her. What generates such a strong fear that even brings him nightmares?

Its a smart thinking of the hunters (and mostly Yagari here) to take advantage of all perspectives in order to seal their future president because as you showed yes Yuuki can tame him and they are all looking forward apparently to be free from pureblood and at the same time have their backs covered.

Does that make also Zero a pawn in the hunter's game? probably.
Its good that Hino shows that early this aspect because apparently such an idea to serve the hunters interests can not be adopted or meet succesion. So being a little more daring I could say that's a positive aspect for the Yume side.

Not a bad chapter there; the wheels are set in motion and Touma is still alive and I do hope that he can finally say all that he knows and help Kaien (because nobody else seems to care) to draw real conclusions about Kaname's plans.

I really liked Yuuki in this chapter!!!! I’m surprised my self to say that haha but yeah finally she’s showing good signs that she indeed has a brain!!!!! YAY!

Mmm … Zero seems jealous; annoyed from Yuuki’s wording about Kaname??? I don’t know how to interpret this … Anyway the point is that she didn’t eat Kaname’s “bait” and even if she is a piece into his chessboard she is willing to play that role and then go see him!!!!! That’s my girl! Go go Yuuki!!!

And that weird scene with Rido and Yuuki was indeed Kaname’s nightmare.

nice points you bring there nina, I was thinking along the same lines, what if perhaps Kaname wants to prevent something from happening again, I can't imagine that Kaname is pushing her away because of his own desire to imprison her somehow it seems too simple..
I think it has to do with Rido and the dark side that he represents, or it has to do with Yuki's past altogether. The way Rido seemed to squish Yuki until she sort of died and turned into nothing might symbolize Kaname's possessiveness but I dont believe he can do that consciously, it seems more like Rido's idea.

also why Rido blocked Yuki's eyes from seeing? From what, the truth? Looks like Sara also knows something, she says, "What will you do Yuki, if you knew everything about Kaname?"

so definitely there is a hidden past that is being kept away from her and she doesn't seem to remember it..

yes he seems to miss her a lot! I love his face when he sniffs her blood and closes his eyes, its a very warm yet subtle moment that engulfs all the meaning of his loneliness *sniff* Kaname!
why Hino keep on going like this, its so sad to see Kaname he seems so alone and depressed, for how long will this keep up I don't know

but Im SO GLAD Yuki is finally stepping up her game its not enough, but its refreshing to see that she IS thinking of him about time.

I have the feeling this chapter connects back to Yuuki and Kaname's past. We said before that a butterfly is a symbol of reincarnation. I think Kaname is trying to prevent whatever tragedy befell the past Yuuki before. And past Yuuki must be the Hooded Woman.

It took a long time for Yuuki's character to reach this level of maturity, but it's been worth the wait!

surprinsgly, I like yuuki in this chapter too. I hope we won't see a regression in the next one. she has this habit

I thought he was jealous too. He seemed like "stop fooling with him, and came at me instead."
But yuuki used a sacrcastic tone when she talked with him. I think that was a pro-yume action.

I don't think rido can harm someone physically. In my opinion rido is like the root of all evil who destroy what is beautiful. Rido is used as a metaphore.

I have the same thoughts too. With each chapter I wonder if yuuki is the reincarnation of kaname beloved from the past.
