Known Facts
1. His father is the pureblood Rido Kuran but his mother, a famous actress, is a noble vampire, thus Shiki is not a pureblood.
2. He is close friend with Rima Toya.
3. He has a day time job working as a model.
4. His mother’s uncle was in a member of the Vampire Council and thus cooperated with Asato Ichirou (Ichijo’s grandfather and the president of the Vampire Council) in using Shiki as a vessel considering Rido’s awakening.
5. His mother, a noble vampire is a famous actress.

His Role in the Story

While Shiki holds a low profile in the beginning, his role is better revealed later as the plot progresses. Shiki is used by the his uncle (from his mother’s side) as a vessel for his father’s (Kuran Rido) soul where Shike considered his father to be dead. Whereas Shiki has no bad intentions, he can not avoid his uncle and he becomes the vehicle through which Rido makes his entrance in the Cross Academy. Towards the end with Rima’s help, Shiki’s soul awakes in his body and he manages to get released from Rido’s spirit. Feeling affected by all the events that took place Shiki decides not to follow Kaname and Yuuki on their new path but together with Rima they decide to discover Takuma’s whereabouts. A year later, he visits the Kuran mansion with Rima in order to re-establish the relations and he calls Yuuki Cross “cousin” for the first time recognizing the family bonds that unite them.

*What does his name mean?
Shiki's last name is a combination of Shi meaning to "support" and Ki, meaning "mallow"-a flowering plant with pink or white blossoms. The ri in Senri is a traditional Japanese unit of measure for distance, and one ri about 2.44 miles. Senri means "1.000 ri".
