oh thats why the kiss was there,hino needed to show the kiss before this ends and she showed it in rush.that means zeki never developed anyway,it was her need to show their final development.hmm............................................................................................................................................................

even if its a zeki ending,i don't understand how hino is gonna end either yume or zeki as both ships are very much in bad condition,zeki is little good than yume though but still...........oh my head hurts.

My reaction too.
Unless she starts extending her chapter that is, 3 chapters is going to be so hard to pull off.
We need Kaname reason which will probably take a whole chapter itself.
Next chapter Yuuki performing the spell and maybe some cuts of Zero remembering
Last chapter, which should be the LONGEST, maybe 50 pages or so, the final ending. Closed LT, redemption on Kaname's part, if Hino allows us, a time skip to see how the characters are doing.

Already ending in march!!?? Man I am even more sad, not only because chapter 88 but this? Oh my..I guess if we have such a short time I guess she will make each chapter as long as possible, she needs to show every detail, why Aidou's dad is dead and some other things. I guess it won't be a sweet ending someone will die, I don't know if it's going to be Kaname but she won't kill Yuuki that is pointless, please dont' kill Zero Hino, he also deservers a happy ending!! Oh geez my favourite and only manga (this is the first I start reading with every detail), with touching character (Zero's got me)..Is coming to an end I started reading it 2 years ago..I am sad!! but I hope it goes longer than march..If you have any news about this please update!!

Well , I said before , if it was a Zeki end , it was easy to pull it in 1 more volume or about 5 more chapters after the Zeki kiss ( chapter 87 ) . Specially if the Zeki end is kind of rush , as the '' we met in another life '' Zeki end . Hino can't stay prolonguing the plot more or she will have techical problems .

And now there are only 4 chapters ( and probable an epilogue ) after the Zeki kiss , including the released chapter 88 . Because if Zeki , there wasn't a lot to explain . Except why Kaname killed Aido - dono . Can be done in less than 2 pages . Why Kaname uses Zero . About 5 or less pages . Some random things from Kaname's past ( 10 or less pages ) . And how Kaname would be saved by Yuuki or how he would die ( 1 whole chapter ) .

The only thing I'm not sure how Hino would address this is about Zero's condition as a vampire . I thougth before this would be resolved in 2 or more chapters . Now it appears she will resolve this in less than half a chapter . If all .

facing the end? so be it...well it was a long story, apparently for the ones that had been reading it, chapter by chapter, i do not want a bitter end, can't stand the taste. After so much anticipation and patience, i want a good happy ending for all three and much more... so what are your final bets?

LOL...I shall go with Yume as i prefer it, but if does not happen I just want Kami to be happy. The same with Zeki of course, from my point of view Zero never went that far to save the girl, up to this last chapter he did not exhibit and so passionate feelings after that kiss. If not now when?

Kaname is still on the fight. Better hang on there. I am very curious to see what shall happen. Hino has a way to keep both fandoms to the edge, and every page surprises. So I am conservative but still optimistic...

I had the feeling of the final arc starting since chapter 86, that gave out the beginning of the end with Yuuki's goodbye to Yori, expressing a certainty there shall be no return. I hope that she is proved wrong, but not unjustified. She is going in great lengths to find Kaname so i do not expect Hino to betray her character.

I want to be hopeful, as there are not and many things that i can be right now.

The ending seems a bit rushed; and when things are rushed they don't end very well. A whole month to wait...Gosh.I feel like Isaya-san, waiting for the end...

It’s not surprising that it’s about to end soon already. Being a manga released by Lala, it had come a very long way that its contemporaries have long met their respective finale. Coming this far, among the trio, Zero is already a given as someone who will survive because his death will not help even a slightest bit of the situation. Whatever, it may be.. I’ll be willing to accept any ending Hino-sensei will pose as long as it wouldn't degrade Kaname’s character..

I think there is a misunderstanding here. In the last page of the current chapter there is an announcement that from the next chapter will start the final arc of the story. The final arc and NOT the final chapter.

The next chapter is the issue of the March since there is always 2 months difference from every release i.e. we will have the next chapter in the end of January but this is labelled as the issue of March of 2013.
The current chapter 88 is the issue of January.

Also before the end of the 1st arc I think there was a similar announcement. I don’t remember how many chapters before the end but since this chapter 88 is the end of volume 18 I think that we will have at least one more volume (19) starting from the next chapter.

I hope this settles the issue.

oh thank you so much nina for the info.well so now we have atleast one more volume that means story won't be rushed after all.i hope we get to see kaname's past wife,yes i am still hoping for that.

My friend says that the word is normally used as they go to the final volume, so 5 more chapters will take us to 93 chapters. but she also said arc could mean set of stories, like how the shizuka chapter are considered an arc etc, so that could mean anywhere from 1 to 3 books.

just after chapter 42, hino said in an interview they had almost reached the end of part 1 and had planned for two parts. she never actually said how long it would be. but hino wouldnt have complete control over that, because some mangaka get cut off or extended depending on the sales.

In my opinion, it's about bloody time! The story's been wandering for a long time now. Ever since Yuki was turned back into a pureblood and she left the academy, things have been going downhill. But still, I am worried as well. I've always been quite the, ah... non-KanaYuki shipper and a huge ZeroYuki lover, but now I feel like ZeroYuki's dwindling as well :/ The fact of which makes me very sad. I don't like to see my ship fading. I thought that ZeroYuki had incredible development during the Shizuka arc and KanaYuki still has had next to nothing, but now I feel bad because the ZeroYuki ship has taken a huge step back and they have to do the developing all over again! She has no time to do it since she's supposedly going to start ending it (finally!) soon, but how things are going it'll most likely be ZeroYuki with Kaname being the main villain. Ha! I've been saying this forever and people despised me for it. But anyway knowing Vampire Knight, maybe Hino will troll us all and Yuki will die and neither KanaYuki or ZeroYuki will happen. Sigh.

Exactly!! I believe that at least someone is going to die, because there is no way that the three of them can keep on living with Yuki having to make a choice. They're going insane, Kaname the most. Therefore, it is very fortunate if he can just conveniently go insane, turn into the antagonist, and then as a symbol of redemption, he can sacrifice himself, allowing for Zero and Yuki to still live.

Or maybe they'll just all die. That'd work too. >

I happen to know that when you write stories, you tend to kill off all the beautiful young men. >:} But, on a more serious note, yes, I think that is very probable. It's like the old Charlotte Bronte trick (or Anita Stansfield, heh!), killing off the one in the way. And having Kaname die sacrificing himself for Yuki's sake and then telling her that he wants her to be happy with Zero would be the best and most tactful way to do it. He's already dug himself so deep, he can't just come back and be like, "Well guys, I know that I've killed a ton of purebloods and you all have been trying to catch me, but I've decided to change my ways and come back to you" and then Yuki will say, "YAY!! Kaname's back!" I don't think that'll happen. At this point, I think Kaname will have to sacrifice himself and Yuki will be extremely saddened by that. Part of her will still love him, but I think that when Kaname dies she will bury that part of her that loved him with him and will be able to devote all of her love to Zero. As long as both of them are alive, her love will continue to be split. Therefore, one must die, and it would make most sense for it to be Kaname.

Alternate ending: Zero sacrifices himself to save Yuki from Kaname and Kaname, realizing how much Zero loved Yuki and how he was so terrible to Yuki will not allow himself to be with her. Then he'll kill himself and then Yuki will have no one. Yep. It's gonna happen. Wait, I'm just as bad as you, SsaFloyd!

I think that Hino plays here with the stuff that we hate most, honestly is like she does that in purpose...

who can accept a human Kaname (he is god with his immortality) and Zero a partially amnesiac vampire who may fall to level-e?

yes i agree hino is a god of trolling but seeing that after chapter 80 our predictions mostly came true so there is a little chance that she gave the hint of ending but then again its hino so its highly unlikely.the most disgusting thing hino did that she developed zeki in one chapter making yuuki's character a stupid teenager which i think she was not when she was a human and a princess.she was more intelligent that time.(kinda annoying,right?)
this thing made hino a cheap writer and the fact she didn't develop most of the characters in her story still bugs me.(except ruka and aidou all are still behaving the same way).

Some WTF things which could alter the outcome of the remainder of the plot . ( They doesn't have to happen . But would have a high surprise factor . )

1- Rido

This could be a wild card . Rido is one character most people is counting to be very dead . But a huge part of the plot has being how Kaname could kill him . Without any success . As Kaname and Rido are bound by their existances . Because of the way Rido awaken Kaname from his slumber . To kill one , the other has to die as well .

If Rido is alive . He could pull some surprise thing to prevent Kaname being killed .

2- The nightmare / premonition of Kaname

This one is also related to Rido . Kaname saw in a nightmare Rido killing Yuuki . But at the same time Kaname was the one holding the bloody clothes that remainded from Yuuki .

This one could mean a lot of things . The thing I'm most certain so far is : Kaname did know he will be responsable from Yuuki's death directly or indirectly . So part of his actual plans involved making sure Yuuki won't be killed by his fault .

But there are more weird implications . If Rido is trully alive and bound to Kaname . Rido could be expecting a way to regenerate his body using Yuuki's blood . In the expected scenario of Yuuki sacrificing herself to make Kaname human . What could be a surprise ? That instead of Yuuki's blood spell turning Kaname to human . Rido uses this opportunity to use Yuuki's blood to regain his own body . Lettling Kaname as pureblood vampire , but responsable of Yuuki's death indirectly . With Rido fully regenerated . And no way for Kaname to revive Yuuki .

3- Isaya's role

This one is a huge speculation from my part . As Isaya so far appears to be just a good guy concerned to help the offsprings of his friends . Who decided to help Kaname to complete his plans . Who is considering sacrificing himself to prevent Yuuki's death .

But what if Isaya is not what he appears to be ? So far , V. K. has used a lot of Chess references . With Kaname being both the "Black King "and the "Black Chessmaster ". Rido has acted as "White King ". But Rido is no strategist . He couldn't planned so far to ruin Kaname . So , who could be the "White Chessmaster " ? It's rare so far in the plot nobody has being identified as such . It could be nobody is going to fulfill this role . But what if is Isaya the one ? He could be behaving as friend . When in reality is the ultimate foe . Waiting for a opportunity to checkmate Kaname and win the game . This could means when he is expected to stop Yuuki during Kaname's final sacrifice . He could do something unexpected . As allowing Yuuki to act , instead of stopping her .

4- Kaname's past

This is were there are huge plot holes without answers yet . As for example easy apparent ones as the name of HW and the origin of Bloody Rose name . Many related to if Kaname could be reinvindicated or not from his present actions . Or more complicated as why Kaname chosen to slumber instead of killing himself in the past .

But there is the possibility of Yuuki having some relation with these plot holes . Some crazy stuff here . For example if Yuuki travel somehow to Kaname's past and if she could influence the present . More crazy , if Yuuki being the reincarnation of some mysterious woman who was Kaname's wife in the past . Not HW , but a second woman . One who could be the one killed at the time of Kaname's great despair from the past .

If somehow Yuuki has even a little relation with Kaname's past prior to his slumber . No matter how little . This could change a lot of the plot in the present . Could be as extreme as to change the present outcome in a Yuuki traveling to the past scenario .

5- Will Zero turn into a Level E ?

One of the most recurrent issues from the start of the plot . And one which appears to be resolved . But there are hints here and there were Zero has lost control of himself for a few seconds . He could had lost Kaname's blood ; which was being used as one of the guardians of the thing he confined to the coffin with chains in his heart . Now Yuuki removed from Zero her memories . She could also have removed her blood inside of Zero with this action . Could losing Kaname and / or Yuuki's blood being some detonant of Zero becoming Level E ? One issue to see .
