His role in the Story

Ichijo and Kaname became close friends when Kaname’s parents died and Kaname was under Asato’s custody, thus he used to live with Takuma before the establishment of the Cross Academy and the forming of the Night-Class. Even though Takuma’s grandfather is president of the Vampire Council, Takuma prefers to stand by Kaname and he fights Asato, taking a stand opposite to the council. During the battle with his grand-father he is badly injured and then he is found and captured by a female pureblood vampire, Sara Shirabuski. Takuma remains Sara’s captive for a year now and confesses to her that Kaname is the progenitor of the Kuran Clan.

*What does his name mean?
Ichijo can mean a “ray” or “streak”. The Kanji for Takuma is a combination of taku, meaning “to cultivate” and ma which is the kanji for asa, meaning “hemp” or “Flax”, a plant with blue flowers.
