Okay i think hino could use this incident of ruka being hurt as a plot device in two ways.

One, this could be used for Zero to show he is overcoming/progressing through his hatred of Vampires. Zero looked shocked when he saw Ruka cover for him, even though they have hardly ever spoken or interacted, that’s got to make him do a huge double take. So in Hino progressing Zero through this, this scene is a good way to show and start it off more openly.

Two, this could be used in getting Kaname a few redeemable points by showing a more human reaction to this incident, then he has previously. Kaname I think was shocked as he seemed to stop dead in his tracks after Ruka collapsed. He has a high opinion of her IMO, and has a soft spot for her too, so I think he won’t just not show any sign of emotion or concern. That would be hino taking it a little too far I think.

yeah it can work both ways but i love ruka and her devotion for kaname,i wish to kaname atleast give his blood to her and finally fulfilling her wish before he dies(as he is planning).it will be so cruel for yuuki to see her desired blood drinking by some other girl but she deserves to be punished but not too far though.

Hmmm yuuki showing jealousy over kaname give his blood to another......i like the sounds of that.

Though i hope they all help Ruka out. I want her better, she's become one of my favourite characters in this story.

yes she and kain became my fav besides hanabusa and aido dono(poor him).i hope for ruka's safety but that good girl sara has to die now,she is like enjoying everyone's protection whom kaname cares about specially takuma,poor guy,he has become a sandwich between kaname and sara.but it can also happen to show yuuki he is a bad guy he just goes on his mission without showing any compassion towards ruka.that will be so cruel.
