What I’m interested in now is what exactly happened all those years ago. What really happened that ancestor woman? To her heart?
Right now, I’m finding this topic quite interesting. So I studied Chapter 84 and all of the previous chapters that have either included or mentioned the mysterious Hooded Woman, and I have expanded upon the theory in my last post, because of events in Chapter 84.
I now think that there is definitely potential for the HW to return, in body or otherwise.

This is what we know (summarized with Kaien Cross’ quote from Page 16 and 17 of Chapter 84):

“If the fire in this furnace dies, we may suffer irreparable loss. So we must be careful, because this is not just any furnace. This is the furnace that contains the “original metal”, the origin of all the anti-vampire weapons, the weapons that can kill even purebloods.”

Plus, Kaname has made mention of the deposit buried within, therefore the HW’s heart itself is still intact; a power source melted in the fire’s eternal flame and buried within the deepest recesses of the furnace.
Now, what Nina mentioned about inconsistencies stands to reason. We saw the HW’s body disintegrate into crystal and dust. But before that, we saw the HW lying prone on a slab, with a hole in her chest indicating that she’d already thrown away her heart:

If she disintegrated, does that mean that her heart disintegrated along with her regardless of distance? We know that if a living heart is separated from a person, it still beats. Even if the person it originally belonged to dies. That’s how heart transplants exist.
So I don’t think that her heart disintegrated as well, because we know that the heart is what powers the furnace to make anti-vampire weapons, and we know from Zero and Kaito that the furnace is still used to make new models of anti-vampire weapons to this day (Chapter 57 P.21).

Kaito comments on how Zero’s anti-vampire gun is an old model, implying that new anti-vampire weapons have since been and are still being made.

So the Hooded Woman didn’t sacrifice herself as a one-off thing. The furnace still has the ability to pump out new anti-vampire weapons, which is why Kaien reinforced to the Hunters how imperative it was that they watch over the furnace during the battle of Chapter 84. And we know the heart was the crucial element to giving new weapons their special properties, so it stands to reason that the HW’s heart is still working inside the furnace.

We have also seen scenes where Yuuki and Kaname have walked into the Hunter Association, felt the strength of the HW’s aura permeating the building and thought that ‘her deposit is still here ’.

The ‘deposit’ being the Hooded Woman’s heart.
So I think this alludes to what occurred in Chapter 84. What we saw happen was the original metal rising up out of the furnace and piercing through Sara’s body; exactly as an activated anti-vampire weapon like, say, Bloody Rose can become ‘active’ and grow its vines out of the gun.
But for it to have the power to do that, it needs fuel; or, blood.
The HW’s heart itself is still buried, burning at the core of the furnace. Because for the story to be consistent with what we know so far about anti-vampire weapons, the original metal would need BLOOD to power itself. We saw this here, back in Chapter 46:

...with the Bloody Rose taking blood from its CONTROLLER (or wielder) which was Zero.

So where could the ‘original metal’ have gotten blood to come alive in Chapter 84? Surely it makes sense for it to have gotten the blood from the ancestor woman’s HEART?

And if it’s the HW’s blood that is powering the original metal, then the HW is controlling it (just like how Bloody Rose takes blood from Zero, and Zero is the one controlling Bloody Rose as his weapon).
So now I definitely think it was the Hooded Woman who controlled what happened in Chapter 84. Because it can’t just be a coincidence that the original metal attacked Sara, of all people. I definitely don’t think that the metal just so happened to rise up out of the furnace at the same time of the battle, especially since it has been there for centuries and a hunter from this chapter just said that ‘it had never moved before’. That would be far too much of a coincidence.

No, it was because of what was going on that the original metal rose up and attacked Sara. It wasn’t just a case of ‘Sara was standing in the wrong place at the wrong time and got hit by the original metal’. The original metal attacked her. And I’ve already explained how I think that the Hooded Woman was controlling it.
Because doesn’t it make sense that she was? Sara wants (or wanted) to be Vampire Queen; the ruler of the vampires. Currently, Kaname is the ruler of the vampires. For Sara to take his position Kaname would have to give up that authority and give her his position; which we know Kaname would never do. So Sara wants to kill Kaname so that she can be the vampire ruler in his stead. She even reaffirmed this in Chapter 84:

Sara wanted to kill Kaname. This she made abundantly clear, and she was on the brink of attacking him right then and there. So the original metal pierced her moments later.
Regardless of what kind of relationship they had, we know that Kaname and the Hooded Woman were close. They were companions back then; they cared for each other. So it makes sense that the Hooded Woman would want to help protect Kaname from harm. Isn’t that proof that the Hooded Woman is alive enough to control the original metal? Because metal doesn’t just move by itself.
So after this chapter, we now know that the Hooded Woman isn’t completely dead. Her corporeal body may have disintegrated into crystal and dust, but there is something of her essence or spirit remaining.

After all, she is an ORIGINAL PUREBLOOD with power that rivals even Kaname’s (an ancestor). So who knows what she was / is capable of?

A speculation from my part .

A posibility of the original metal with HW's heart on it awakening could be that it starts to desire to kill all vampires around it . As the story has already told the anti - vampire weapons basically only have the desire to kill vampires and no other feelings . Other thing is if the original metal wanted to use the blood of anybody inside the Hunter's Headsquarters to resurrect HW . Which would require a huge quantity of blood . Even if given by a direct pureblood vampire relative .( As Yuuki probably is . ) Both or either of these ideas could make the original metal with HW's heart a potential next boss or villain . Not exactly has to be the last boss . But one who could made Yuuki , Zero and Kaname requiring to work together . With Yuuki making the spirit of HW inside the original metal recover her original good feelings and intentions .

Another things are :

Could be required another pureblood sacrifice to stabilize or change the metal for anti - vampire weapons ?

If Sara's blood / heart is absorbed by the original metal . Could now that metal react to Sara's desires and become " Sara's new anti - vampire weapon metal " ? Just imagine the new Sara power - up version , the Metal Spidervamp .

If Sara gets absorb by the original metal and it takes on her will that would be interesting to see how the trio would be a able to stop it. Also, it would be cool if the HW spirit make an appearance she's a very interesting character.

Has anyone considered/remembered that Sara has an army of minions locked away in the pharmaceutical company basement (or wherever that basement may be)? I just bought my copy of Volume 14, and it reminded me; holy crap! Where do her other minions come into play?

Maybe they will unleash havoc after she is dead? But we don't know if she's dead... I think she's pretty much done for, but there's always a twist right when you think it's all said and done; that's just how Hino rolls.

I'd like to see where those she turned into vampires fit into the puzzle. There are far too many questions still to be answered for us to be getting too awfully close to the end I think...

I'm crazy to know what happened to that bunch of vampires that Sara turned into vampires and are keep locked away . Also about those vampires who drank Sara's blood tablets . What I would like to see is those vampires attacking the Hunters Headquarters .

But as the story is developing. Maybe they just end home . Without any fight involved . Drinking tea after Sara dies . With a little of Yuuki's new blood tablets by the side as snacks . BUAAAHHHHHAAAAHHAAAA!!!!!!!!! The most quiet way to resolve this issue ! I hope this part is just a joke and not the real outcome .

About the girls turned into vampires by Sara . For what the story has told so far . Every one of the females Sara has bitten and turned into vampire :

1-Gave their consent to become a vampire .

2- Stabilized by Sara to Level D.

3- Become part of her harem of girls .

So none of the female ex - human vampires turned directly by Sara is inside a dungeon nor in risk to become a Level E . The ones who are keep prisioner ; in risk of become Level E ; or turned against their will are all male .

The one who was shown as prisioner of Sara was the President of the Pharmaceutical Company . The who helped to develop the blood tablets with Sara's blood inside . He was in a basement prision with other guys .

Sara dragged Takuma with her to his grandfather's company and she turned the head of the company, apparently with a bunch of others who she was using to manufacture the tablets she wanted. Those were the ones I was referring to I'm not sure if she gave blood to theme; I'm thinking not, but yes, it would be horrible!!!

There’s been so much going on within recent chapters, I’m a little embarrassed to admit that Sara’s private prison slipped my mind almost completely. But even though it hasn’t been directly involved with the plot lately, the prominent antagonist of the series holding characters hostage within her own private dungeon is still something of a big deal, even by VK standards.

I think it should be revealed to Yuuki so that she can realize how horrid and despicable Sara truly is (or perhaps was). And it’s pretty important that those poor prisoners are finally released.
But so far, there’s been no visit to or even mere mention of Sara’s dungeon since we first discovered it way back in Chapter 65:

I hope Hino will expand upon this soon; especially if Sara dies in Chapter 85. I think only Sara and Takuma even know of the prison’s existence. If Sara were to die, what would happen to the prisoners who are still imprisoned? Surely she must have been providing them with enough rations (food, water and blood) for them to at least survive if they were of some use to her? The prisoners would need to be found, or they would eventually cave in to starvation. (If they haven’t already…? )

We know that some of Sara’s prisoners are ex-humans whom Sara had forcibly turned vampire to compel them to obey her. But now Sara also has her harem of young girls who are all utterly infatuated with her of their own free will. They appear briefly in virtually all of Sara’s scenes almost like they’ve been super-glued to the pureblood woman’s side.

After gathering an ensemble of loyal vampire servants to her side, and even pulling countless vampires under her influence through the corrupted blood tablets, would Sara still feel the need to keep her unwilling progeny in the prison?

If she decided they were no longer of potential use to her, would they just spend the rest of their lives forgotten; still categorized as missing people by the hunters and never found? It would be such a horrible way for them to end, locked away within dark cells to die without anyone even knowing they exist. So I’m curious to know if Sara thinks that their lives are still worth keeping.

Does anyone believe that her inhumanity really extents so far as to allow them all to perish?

It’s a pretty horrible thought. I know that this manga is classified as a ‘tragedy’, but surely something must be done about this…? They would need to be found. And I think that the only other character who knows about them is Takuma.

Takuma was always such a fundamentally ‘good’ character, with such a strong grasp on morality. He’s known what was going on and recognized it as wrong (Chapter 64 P. 37), but his fear of and love for Sara prevented him from taking action to stop her. Surely, if Sara were to die, he would inform the hunters or vampires of the people kept captive so that they could be freed?

As for the previous president of the pharmaceutical company, wouldn't he have to be released as well at some stage?

Aidou mentioned in Chapter 84 that the plan to counteract Sara's spread of the 'tainted' tablets was to manufacture and distribute a new tablet with Yuuki's blood:

So they would need to have some knowledge of how to concoct and distribute medicine in order to produce a new blood tablet and accomplish such a goal. If the ex-president were to be freed (which let's hope might be soon if Sara does die from the original metal), perhaps the he would be re-instated as head of the pharmaceutical company and offer his aid to Aidou and Yuuki?

I feel that the way the furance acted up because it senses trouble inside the hunter's association or was the hooded woman protecting Kaname from being killed by Sara and pierce her. Now, I can't officially declare Sara dead until the next chapter and maybe Hino-sensei can probably bring the Hooded woman back in some kind of way in the next chapter.

You're definitely not the only one hoping that Sara is an interesting character to read about, but I think after everything she's done she's just plain evil

If sara will be dead (I hope she will), I see them having just one role: to create chaos on the streets (and not only them, but the ones who took the tablets as well), and this to lead as vampires existence being discovered by human society.

Thus far coexistence worked in just one way: vampires to accept humans (only in a limitated place - cross academy). it's time now for humans to find out about vampires existence and the coexistence to work both ways.

If humans were to discover the existence of vampires during such a scenario...they would be terrified. Their first sighting of a vampire would be one who had no control over themselves, and that would cause fear to ripple out across the human population and make them eternally wary of the vampires. I would imagine the hunters would have a lot to do to smooth things over if that were the case, including wiping the memories of those directly affected.

But would all of the vampires who had tasted Sara's blood tablet also be involved? Most of the vampires of the Night Class were fed Yuuki's blood, which counteracted the effects of the corrupt pills and negated Sara's influence (or so we've been led to believe thus far). But it's implied that Sara's tablets had circulated beyond just the NC, and Yuuki can't have given her blood to absolutely everyone who has tasted the new tablet So Aidou's plan to create and distribute another type of blood tablet with Yuuki's blood may come into development soon as a solution to this...
There is still much to be resolved in VK before the manga reaches its conclusion, I think...

And I agree with Aya-chan that humans becoming aware of and accepting the vampires as a part of society will need to be a pivotal point in Vampire Knight's development. Aside from the love triangle, co-existence between the two races is the ultimate plot of this story. Peace needs to be achieved in order to bring about a happy ending, I think. Otherwise, not much will have changed. There was only a fragile co-existence between them at the start of the series, and it would be a little anti-climatic if after all that's happened to VK society everything just stays the same

I've just finished playing catch up with the manga, and I must say this was a great chapter. Seems like the Hooded Woman might still be alive in some form. The way that Sara was attacked makes me believe that the Hooded Woman knows what's going on around her. Seems almost like she pass judgement on Sara and found her guilty.
