Other vampire mangas, books and films.

Do you like vampires in general? There was a topic about Twilight :suspect: What else story do you know. I think vampires are very interesting topic of stories and legend in every country. What girl don't want to be bitten by charming and handsome vapire?

Hm, i just love vampires and i try to find any news or films about them.
And VK was one of the best animes about vampires, but its not the only one.
I have watched Shiki, though its still not finished. Its about vampires and the anime is very mysterious and horror. There is also an anime called Shinsengumi Kitan. Its historical and is related to vampires. Then there is an anime called Bakemonogatair, but i really didn't like this one. Shiki and Shinengumi are available as Mangas, but i don't know about Bakemonogatari.
Also there is a really good manga named Barajou No Kiss. Its really not about vampires, but one of the characters is a vampire. Of course the most hot one is a vampire. hehehe
There is a film called Underworld. This film has four parts. Its about vampires and Lycans and is really epic and interesting and then there are Vampire Diaries. I've never watched them, but my friends really like them.
Then there was a film made in 2010 called Vampire Sucks and its basically a parody about the first part of Twilight and its really funny.

aaaahhh since my early teens I had a thing about vampires!!!!!! I don't know why, maybe because of vampires being especially "linked" to heavy metal music and goth culture in general (well, I was a goth for a quite good amount of time some years ago- and now even that I don't dress as a goth anymore, I still only listen to rock/metal/goth music) but I think that the main reason I was attracted to vampires in first place was the meaning of "finding your soul- mate and spend eternity together"!! ok I'm hopelessly romantic, I can't help it!!! And because I'm , on subject:

• first -and favourite- vampire movie I ever watched was "Dracula" by Francis Ford Coppola, staring Winnona Ryder, Gary Oldman, Anthony Hopkins and Keanu Reeves!!! MUST watch if you like vampires!!!
  Also, there is the original book by Bram Stoker, in witch the movie was based! (In my book, is included a sort story called "the Vampire" which was thought to be written by Lord Byron but ended up that the real writer was John Polydori
  
  
• Continuing to movies, there is "Intervie with a vampire" with Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Antonio Banderas, Kirsten Dunst, Kristian Slayter. The movie is based on the book of lady-of vampires-writer Ann Rice
  
• Also based on Ann Rice's books, but not such a good movie, it's "Queen of the damned". Actually, this movie's story it's really altered from the book and has elements from varius books of the "Vampire Chronicles" series

• Also as TheCrystalisWhisper mentions above, there is "Underworld" (although I thought it was a trilogy!! Didn't know there was a 4th movie!!! why haven't I seen it yet?? )
  
  
• "Buffy the vampire slayer" and "Bad Boys" were major movie- hits in the 80's-90's
  
  
• "Van Helsing" with Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale, although I don't like it at all!! To me is more of a parody....but it's just me, you may like it!
  
  
• "Blade", I think there are 2-3 movies, not my favourite also.....

• and if you 're really reaally into vampire movies search "Nosferatu"!!!! it's a 1922 silent black-and-white film and it's considered to be a masterpiece of vampire movies!!!

There is also "The werewolf of London" good for it's time and dont forget the "wolf" with M. Pfaifer and Jack Nickolson, a vry good one!

• vampire diaries, is one of my favourite series!!! team Damon all the way!!! (and Ian Somerhalder is smoking HOT but I fell in love with Damon before the series start, after reading the books- actually vampire diaries 1-4 are really good, 5-Nightfall is hmmm and 6-Shadow Souls is :don't speak: I read it last week and I think it's not good at all to try playing writer after 18 years.....she has forgotten how to write...
  
  
• true blood: amazing series but don't watch it if you aren't 18 yet.....As for the books, I've read 1-10 (I think there are also some collections of sort stories) they're quite good but not "top literature books"

First time I've ever read about a vampire story was back at junior high.
It was a 11 volumes series of books called "The little Vampire" originally written in German by Angela Bodenburg Zomer and translated in English and Greek language.

The vampires on that story were not so delicate and handsome but the story was absolutely great and I loved it as a child.

If you're looking for books (better than the Twilight series) there's a series called "Blue Bloods" by Melissa De La Cruz. So far there's four: Blue Bloods, Masquerade, Revelations, and Van Allen Legacy. They're really interesting and the vampires within this book are much more "unique" than any ones I've read so far. It warps American history (even though it is set in modern times). Also, the main vampires are resurrected archangels from the Bible, and the villains here are those called the Silver Bloods. Romance and drama are in there of course, and it's somewhat similar to the VK relationship---Will the guy choose the protagonist girl or be with his sister who has been bonded to him since the beginning of time. The good thing is, action and a fast paced narrative are what makes this book engaging (unlike the 100 pages of waste in Twilight...sorry if you're a fan). I highly recommend to check it out if you havent. Good luck!
