Yeah I translated chapter 72 myself and thought I would share it, it is the first time I have made a scanlation so sorry if it is not perfect

I think it's a first i dont imagine hunters capable to fall in love or mate with a vampire because its in their blood to have the hateful instinct towards them... that saying, don't you find this similar with Zero and Yuki's case too? Vampire and vampire hunter.

Quite similar indeed and for the first time we also have another vampire-vampire hunter match that could achieve union among vampires and hunters...other than Yuuki and Zero (of course) and Hino gives it to us...

haha you're right definitely food for thought. LOL. now who said marriage with a vampire and a vampire hunter can't achieve coexistence? lol!! if its maria and zero... well... maybe i will change my mind?? hahah1!

True, but there is no comparison between Juri and Maria, not to mention Zero and Cross!

Nice chapter overall, things start to move at last. Is it me or Yuuki doesn't look very amused by Maria's proposition? Jealous? Maybe. Cliffhanger of course but still Maria's proposal came out of nowhere, I was surprised I must say, lol.

Kaname is finally back in action, I'm in delight His sneaky side is what I like the best about him, thanks to it, things are picking up once again
To sum up : Zero is thirsting, Yuuki is thirsting, Kaname is plotting, Sara is taunting/nagging and Maria is teasing...fu fu, things look promising

Maria is a very sweet girl who wants to make friends, she's familiar with Zero as a hunter, she calls him the boy from the hunter family who is with Yuuki all the time. She somehow knows them well enough to note they don't get on like they used to and differences in their personalities, thats enough to establish interest.

If she hadn't been witness to the 2 times where Zero and Yuuki are antagonistic towards each other, then perhaps she might have been "brainwashed", but thats a clear setup for her motivation to get involved.

Her approach is sly and provocative and completely ooC and she's baiting Yuuki, if she actually wanted Zero, she would be nice about it, not teasing.

I agree with Bluemoon at least, by the way she's acting its either she's being controlled or she's playing matchmaker, and matchmaker makes more sense with the setup.

Plus, what does Sara gain by provoking Yuuki via Maria? She's provoking Zero directly. She wants Yuuki to be on "her side", if Sara wanted to provoke Yuuki, it'd be easy enough to say she was going to look after Zero to piss Yuuki off.

I've never thought of that couple before You're right, it doesn't make sense, but its actually pretty cool Even though it'll never happen...because they've never met...and Kaito would hate vampires as much as Zero but without an except of one person.. But for some reason Kaito is one of my favourite characters, even though he only has a cameo role in the manga. But still I'd like to see more of him in future chapters, because he seems to be present in almost every chapter recently (as Zero's hunting partner). But he hasn't contributed much to the story.. at all really If he's not going to have a future role in some sort of plot development, Hino is probably just drawing him into the story so Zero has someone to talk to and doesn't look so solitary all the time

But who knows Maria seems to be hanging around Yuuki a bit now since joining the NC (and Kaito is always around Zero) so maybe they'll have a chance to talk sometime soon (It'll probably never happen, but I can hope Especially since Maria seems to want to be closer to Zero now as well )

haha, yeah, I love the coincidental comment on the horrible tasting bloodtablets with Maria's proposition. I love the Zeki cliffhangers. but I want to know what Yuuki is going to do about kaname as much as I want to see yuuki's reaction. I think I might be getting my hopes up if I expect to see a jealous yuuki though.

the slight touch of her finger to her lips must've hinted this, I would've considered she was provocative if her eyes showed emotion but it looked more like interest to me

isn't it that Sara is interested in Zero rather than Yuki? Why would she go out and stalk on him like that, commenting on his lust and saying how poor he is. if there's anyone provoking it's sara

If maria actualy wanted zero I think she would be talking to zero right now and not yuki, it is not like she needs yukis permission.

I agree with you, after all Maria may have wanted to know Yuuki's feelings first; is it allright to move on with Zero or she will hurt Yuuki and challenge the pureblood unintentionally, so it's a good move and I find it more justifying than playing the matchmaker out of nowhere.

Now what Yuuki's answer can be? Solace you made me think of one;

Yeah, I know this feeling, everytime Hino pulls these kind of tricks, I fall for it and next chapter I just know I'm bound to disappointment, lol.

But I can only see two reasons to Maria's sudden behaviour :

- either she is manipulated by Sara, her eyes look strange, expressionless, she looks like a puppet, she seems to be not in her right mind but I might be wrong...Is it really a coincidence that Maria is keeping Yuuki busy while Sara is talking with Zero? Could it be all Sara's planning? Everything is possible. (one thing could contradict this theory though, Maria has been following both Yuuki and Zero since the beginning of this chapter, it looks like she is puzzled by their somewhat current coldish relationship, she is curious about it, that's for sure).

-or she is provoking Yuuki, trying to stir some kind of emotion out of her, will it work? Only time will tell. But the last sentence where Yuuki is thinking how bloodtablets have an unpleasant taste is all connected to her displeasure after hearing Maria's proposition imo. I don't think Maria is that interested in Zero and it would be a cheap way to get Zero out of the picture imo. Anyway, Zero is too into Yuuki to even consider Maria as a potential lover so it's like a lost battle for Maria.
Reaching happiness, having an happy ending doesn't necessarily mean that every character has to be paired up...finding its own path is also a way to achieve happiness in life. Come on, there's a lot of bachelors in this world, why couldn't it just be the same for manga world? I'm rather bored by the way mangakas deal with the loser of the LT, everytime it's so cheap imo.

It will take some time getting used to a new forum, heh. I feel that there are alot of yumes in this thread, but I'm not here to discuss the LT, so I'll manage XD

I can imagine Yuuki's answer to be something like "Do whatever you want". Whatever her feelings are, she have no right to tell Maria that "Well, no you can't have him, I want him". Her reaction will probably be a secretive one, when she's away from Maria. It'll be interesting to see ^^

Next chapter will appearantly be the closing of a volume too, which would mean we'll be left with a dramatic cliffhanger. It doesn't always mean that, but considering we're so far out in the story, and there's been alot of tensional build up I suspect it. I'm really looking forward to it. =D

It's in Maria's history to have her body occupied by the superior purebloods but in this case, as you say Sara is still awake and walking..so I doubt that she has hypnotized Maria (unless there is a way to charm her and act through her but without changing body).
I do agree that there is a mysterious air around Maria- but she is a vampire- perhaps Hino adds there a bit of an ysterious aura to enhance the scene? This behaviour is indeed strange for Maria but she may have get over her embarassment and just be honest with her desires...

Yuuki faces the problem that she is very hungry at that moment..and the tablets are not giving to her any pleasurable feeling or taste, like Kaname's blood did. Hino delays the phrase "unpleasant" puting the last word there, after Maria's question, playing a bit..but it's clear that this is about the tablets.

Yuuki should be angry that Maria disturbs her with such an unimportant matter.and since when is Yuuki the one to give her blessings to other vampires choices?
But to be fair, Yuuki has to better warn Maria that Zero is not Ichiru and his predisposition towards vampires is not the best. If Maria approches Zero with such intentions, she is also risking her life.

In Yuuki's position I think the most sensible thing to do is to tell her to stay in line and behave as best as possible at least in the school's grounds..vampires should not give rights to the hunters that they are causing problems..I think Yuuki's position allows to Maria to tell her that..to be cautious of her manners and attirude towards Zero, Zero hates vampires...

Then Yuki, who's in a bad mood because of the bad taste of blood tablets, will teleport to Sara where she's stalking Zero behind a tree and does her too , (much to her surprise) saying, "As for you, you expired drama queen, be content with your harem! "
and the hit her with her wings, "And that's for lying about my husband! You think I couldn't tell?? "

now finally we have Kaname's replacement in case he dies,
the beginning tell tale signs of Yuki as the menacing pureblood queen. now she intends to keep both of them...

I have to admit that I didn't read all the topic, but I have this big question since I read the scans where I don't know if you have already answer it, but please, be kind enough to enlighten me.

Why is Hino always giving Zero second slops? At first he gave him an one-sided love for Yuki and now she is preparing Maria which clearly sees Zero as Ichiru's substitude.

She could be a little kind to him and give him a proper Yori or something like that. What's all this with him and girls that they will never feel for him? Isn't it weird?

Eh, if he doesn't end up with Yuuki, I much prefer Maria over Yori. Yori is so BORING. And what's that he diserves? A girl in love with someone else? Yori might be boring, but she is interested in Zero, whereas Yuki and Maria are in love with Kaname and Ichiru.

When was Yori ever interested in Zero? O.o Whenever they've interacted, they always talk about Yuuki. Not a good sign, lol. It's not canon that Maria loved Ichiru either, we're only shown that she cared for him and wanted to know what happened to him when he disappeared. I'm not sure if I believe she's in love with Zero either, but if she were my point was it'd be a whole lot more interesting than him being with Yori. Giving a guy in a love triangle his lost love's best friend is just wayy too cheesy. When I say I believe he'll get what he deserves, it's because I haven't given up my faith in zeki yet. On the contrary, I feel that there's alot of build up to them, especially now with this chapter (ex. Yuuki clutching her throat after seeing Zero's neck and her glare at Maria's question), but I won't be discussing the LT. Not saying you shouldn't like ZeroxYori, by all means, I just don't fancy them myself as Yori to me have no interesting traits, I don't see an exciting relationship happening between them. Just my opinion.
