I think I will put here some comments to talk and say some things about Rido...it seems that he was an outcast to the Kuran's familly...

why was he banned?

What about his engagement to Shizuka?

Can we say that he is alive?

Is he reflecting the evil side?

Why is he featuring two different eyes?

What was his connection to the council?

Why did he go that far as sacrificing a baby as to be the King?

Is his role over for the VK story?

why was he banned?
I think it was because he killed baby Kaname, because before that Rido was still part of the family, until he killed the baby. Haruka probably knew what happened. So he was enlisted as blacklist by the council and the Kurans since then were guarded.

What about his engagement to Shizuka?
Nothing to say really, but I have a theory
following these events:

>shizuka in prison when young kaname visit her - at this time, rido was already blacklisted for killing the baby, in theory

if he was engaged to her, it was probably at a time where he doesn't have a bad image, so i think it was before Juri and Haruka's first child (kaname) was born.

>rido then attacked the kuran mansion - kaname chopped him to pieces afterwards

Rido then spent 10 years regenerating his body

in the middle of this 10 years, shizuka's x human lover was ordered to be executed so she went after Kiryuu and turned Zero into a vampire-- who ordered the execution? Rido was still regenerating at this point.

Can we say that he is alive?
yes but not physically. He's like a pureblood's version of ghost from what I understand and needs to be exorcised. xD

Is he reflecting the evil side?
I'm not sure what you mean here, but it looks that way when he appeared to Kaname as his contradictions... It's either Rido knows too much about kaname to be able to "mirror" his contradictions well, or Rido is a part of Kaname-- ok how that is possible?

Why is he featuring two different eyes?
you know, you might be onto something here... could it be Rido inherited someone else's genetic trait? a passing of genetic trait perhaps, that results to that different colored eyes? im starting to have a theory here but i seemed to have lost it..

What was his connection to the council?
It's not clear but his first role to the council was (theoretically) give them his blood in exchange for favors, such as killing shizuka's xhuman lover.

his second role was for Asato's realization. Asato wanted to use his power to bring down Kurans so he planned to resurrect Rido and use him to bring down Kuran

Why did he go that far as sacrificing a baby as to be the King?
Not sure, that part is a bit vague as well but one thing is for sure
-he went crazy because of unrequited love for juri so he has motives for taking their first child as sacrifice
-he wants to be the master of the ancestor-- apparently a pureblood's true nature is to greed for power, and he could definitely earn more power by becoming kaname's master

Is his role over for the VK story?
I dont think so... i have a feeling he will show up again, he has to disappear some day, he cant keep hovering over kaname

How did he end up having another child?
senri- senri is around 18 in vampire years then he was born somewhere when Rido was still part of the family, 10 yrs ago was his regenerating phase which would be a bit impossibel to create a child there.

for the other child (the one at the party he possessed? ) - he seems younger, around 8-10 years old? so he was born when ? and how long is a vampire conception?

as for how he ended up having two children from different mothers, lol, I don't know, maybe he was completely broken by Juri that he went busy with the women

Agree. If Haruka nd Juuri would had suspicions over him before baby kaname's killing, I doubt they would have hand it to him to hold him.
Rido was banned after he killed baby's kaname.

Well, he was a bachelor, he must had a fiance, like any other pureblood after an age.

Can we say that he is alive?

Not physicaly. Being death physicaly, I find him cute

What was his connection to the council?

Probably he noticed council desire to eliminate / discreditate pureblood and he offered to help them. Council used rido to obtain something and rido used them in the same time to abtain something. It was one-one relationship.

Why did he go that far as sacrificing a baby as to be the King?

I belive that was some kind of revenge because juuri x haruka love had a fruit / blossomed.

Is his role over for the VK story?

I can't provide answers since I don't have them.

that's probably the reason why Rido ordered shizuka's xhuman lover to be executed. He got jealous over his ability to be able to do intimate things to her even behind bars

Shiki's age was 16, the same with Yuuki...so Rido found a mate there, while he was under the supervisiom of the council about little Kaname's murder...


then he goes after baby Yuuki (that is six years later)...

and he is destroyed by Kaname...so again he goes under the council's supervision and then he is having another kid (the one at the ball most likely), so here you are...

haha, Asato totally used him as a stand there it shows (now about the second time, I have no idea what Kaname destroyed there that needed resurrection but I can guess what he left that did not...

Purebloods only marry other purebloods . If the only female Kuran available choose their other brother . Rido had no other choice but to accept another pureblood female as fiancee . Even if he didn't love her .

Tecnically he is . Until you destroy all cells of a pureblood . Inhibiting them to regenerate . Then a pureblood could be killed . If a single cell survives with the power to regenerate ; as the case of Rido's blood that was kept in the Vampire Senate ; there's the possibility of Rido reviving again . Unless he gets a lot of blood , including from Kurans' he will not be an enough physical menace for a while . But he could try to influence Kaname as he tried during this 2nd arc .

Most probably the only normal way to kill him involves killing Kaname as well . As their lives are bond to each other . But maybe there'a a way to kill him without Kaname dying . As happened in Harry Potter between Voldemort and Harry . Here I think Yuuki is the key for this . Using her unique powers for breaking others spells .

Not sure what this means . Maybe Rido is used in the second part for now to remember Kaname's mistakes from the past .

Here I believed it happened as a inherited defect secundary to the Kurans' inbreeding practices .

But somehow this is portraited a sign of Rido's being the black sheep of the Kurans' . As being a little different than the others .

This could be base for a lot of speculation . Because it depends when he became their ally . If it was since the Senate was created or if just after he awaken Kaname .

The things I know . Vampire Senate was created when Yuuki's grandfather renounced to being the Vampire King . Rido was supposed to be first in line to inherited the throne before his father abducted it .

A political relationship between them , could be in favor of both sides . Rido had lost his position as future King . Vampire Senate was secretly oppossed by some monarchic vampire families . That wanted the return of Kurans' monarchy . If the Vampire Seante was openly friend with the person who could reclaim the Vampire Throne . If he is the Senate friend . Who is backing the existance of the Senate . This could make some of the Vampire Monarchic families to ally themselves with the Senate . To emulate the example of the one they believe has to be their leader . Also the Senate gain prestige as accepting a not only a pureblood under their wings . Accepting the one who was supposed to be their King if monarchy remained . The Senate needed to make some concesions for Rido to make him continue aiding them .

I don't understand this question . I tried to answer as best I could .

I think a reason Rido's father renounced to the Vampire Throne was because he didn't wanted Rido to be King . As he maybe had known something about Rido becoming a cruel and nasty kind of king if he become one .

But maybe Rido was involved in the events of the past that make Kaname decide to take an eternal slumber . So Kaname could be the one who told his son to not allow Rido to be the next King in the future before entering his slumber .

Rido wanted always to be the Vampire King . He wanted power . Getting Juuri as his wife . He got none . Most probably at first , he just wanted to devour his nephew as vengance of his brother getting the women he desires and having a male baby with her . But after thinking a little , he decided to get revence at his grandfather who prevented him to get the Vampire Throne that was supposed to be his . Basically kill two birds with one stone . So sacrificing his nephew to awaken his grandfather , the all - mighty first Vampire King . To get his powers after devouring him when Kaname could not regenerate was a better plan . But was a plan which backfire . As Rido could end not devouring Kaname . Becoming bond with him instead .

---Is his role over for the VK story?

Most probably not . Rido is bond to Kaname . So probably near the end this has to be resolved .

How many illegitimate children Rido has we don't know . Nor the story told .

But he indeed acted as stud for the Vampire Senate families who wanted to get more strong pureblood genes to their descendants . As part of his way to get the Senate in favor with him .

The thing I know causes confusion here is how Rido could have a son who looks around 4 to 5 years when his physical body was made a mess 10 years ago . When I would not expected he had a body in shape enough to have sex with any woman . Or to at least get soem seed to impregnate some woman . Rido could not get out of his coffin until he get Kaname's blood more than 10 years later .

My explanation here is because vampires ages slower than humans . My theory of Purebloods and Noble vampires aging 1 vampire year for every 2 human years until adulthood . The kid Rido possessed during the first arc looks 4 to 5 years old . But his real age in human years was twice as long . He was 8 to 10 years old in human years . A vampire pregnancy probably is also twice as long as a human one . So most probably Rido impregnate the kid's mother a little before the incident at the Kuran's Manor .

---About Senri and Yuuki being the same age . 17 years in appearance at the start of the second arc .
( NOTE : I'm not going to use present time here as complicating more things here . )

They look about the same age . But they don't have the same age in human years .

Senri was 17 vampire years old . This is the same as 34 human years .

Yuuki was 17 years old in appearance . But she aged until her 6th birthday as a vampire . The next ten years and a half aged as a human . Then aged as a vampire again . When she aged 1/2 vampire year for 1 human year .

So Yuuki is : (6 x 2 vampire years ) + 10 1/2 human years + 1 human year as pureblood = 12 + 10 1/2 + 1 = 23 1/2 human years old .

But her real physical years in appearance is 17 . ( 6 + 10 1/2 + 1 = 17 1/2 years in appearance . )

So Senri is really oldest than Yuuki in human years . But they are around the same age in appearance .

Of course this makes Yuuki older than Zero in real human age . But younger in physical appearance than him . Weird .

What it bugs me though with that, is Haruka’s reaction when Rido took the baby Kaname, supposedly to change his diaper … Haruka was alarmed and he followed him, showing anxiety and maybe fear? Why? If Rido was a regular/beloved member of their family without any sign of hate, madness or evilness then why Haruka suspected him?

I think is possible Rido to have showed samples of his rotten nature prior the sacrifice of baby Kaname, when the ancestor Kaname and grandfather of Juri/Haruka, was still awake. But I’m only speculating here …

I think Ichirou said that behind the altered hunters’ list was Rido and that’s why he wanted Zero to avenge for him and kill Rido for the pain he caused to Shizuka.

But I always wonder about that … how he did it since he had no functional body at that time?

I don’t think he is alive either, mostly cuz he turned into crystals after Yuuki’s and Zero’s blows. I would find it repetitive if Rido would represent again a big threat … but I think mariangie’s theory has a base … maybe Hino will use Rido’s remainings to create a climax by putting Yuuki to break that spell and free/save Kaname.

You mean like a little devil’s inner voice? Haha…

The scene with Rido, torturing Kaname seems like a way to present Hino Kaname’s inner battle and Rido played the devil there …

But my feeling is that Rido’s role in the past (maybe even prior Kaname’s slumber) it might be bigger than we already know. We know only the distant part of Kaname’s past, but nothing from the period that he supposedly was ruling as a king or about his family, wife and children. So I think there is room for more, Rido’s involvement.

Why is he featuring two different eyes?

My theory is that his heterochromatism could be an indication for his origins. It’s not supported by science, but we are talking about supernatural/fantasy here, so a lot can’t be explained or supported by science haha.

I thought maybe his mother wasn’t a Kuran. To stretch it further it could be a daughter of the Hiou family … they have brighter colours hence and the one blue eye.

Also it might be a reason of why he was engaged to Shizuka (<< half sister … intermarriages between siblings is a common practice for the PBs).
Furthermore it could be an explanation for Kaname’s wording, that it was his miscalculation Rido’s existence.

Other hints …
> Rido turned to be a mad man … the obvious explanation is that his jealousy drove him there, but synchronously he could have a race/preadaptation to madness. Schizofrenphrenia is heritable, so if his half origins were from Hiou’s family, who has heredity in madness (Hino seems that she used that element for Hious), then Rido’s madness has another reason to be developed.

What was his connection to the council?

Supposedly he should be under council’s surveillance, but most likely was a profitable collaboration for both sides.

1. Same interests … they both had the Kurans as enemies since was the only ones who could oppose them.

2. Rido had used the senate (altered list) and vice versa … Shizuka was a senate’s prisoner and also Rido’s fiancée … many coincidences to be just a coincidence.

General reasons for the senate to use the PBs:

1. They have used the PBs as studs in order to reinforce the blood line of some nobles’ families … Shiki’s case and maybe the child who lured Yuuki.

2. They could also have used the powers of the PBs to intimidate the PB’s clans that they were anti-senate. There is Isaya’s case … his wife sacrificed her life and turned their children into humans … why? Is it possible, to save them from conflicts; as Juri did with Yuuki? Note that Isaya’s family was pro-Kurans and as we can see there isn’t any other clan which is in favour to Kurans … what happened there?

3. They might have used their blood … we know that PB’s blood is curative and restorative … we also have Juri’s reference on that … they were preys for their blood and the case of the previous hunters’ president who took PBs’ blood via senate.

On the other hand the senate as exchange for their collaboration was letting them to use the humans as food and slaves, prolonging the nasty, bloody circle.

I think he was planning to devour the baby Kaname anyway … to gain power and to avenge Juri and Haruka. But as he said the baby’s name, Kaname, gave him another idea … to sacrifice the baby in order to awake the ancestor Kaname and by devouring him to gain even more power. But I think isn’t only a game over power … Rido seems like he has personal issues/conflicts with his own family. I think he hated the ancestor Kaname and by awaking and devouring him was another way to avenge … the power was an extra gain.

Is his role over for the VK story?

I’m not sure if we see him again as a real threat but I think we might have more to learn about his role in VK story. So under that light I could answer, no.

How did he end up having another child?

I agree with mariangie’s theory on that. The little child who was possessed by Rido, from his appearance seemed to be around 5-6 years old, but that doesn’t mean that he was born 5-6 years before. We know from Takuma (the b-day scene) that vampires are ageing differently from humans, most likely slower and that’s why they live also longer. So if maria’s theory is accurate and for 2 human years they ageing 1 then the child was born 10-12 years before viz prior Kaname slashes Rido’s body. Ergo he was perfectly capable to
